I am so grateful and honored to have been awarded The Sunshine Blogger Award from an awesome woman that I have met through a hashtag on Instagram. (Small world!) I absolutely love the community of social media when presented and used for networking and sharing your passions with those from all over the world. I never thought I would be awarded on not only the presentation of my blog but also for the content I strive to reach others with.
I was nominated by Crystal, a.k.a. The Cappuccino Traveler. Thank you, Crystal, this award means so much to me as a fellow blogger and coffee drinker! This award came right when my husband and I had come down will an illness that left us sick in bed for a few days. This award was exactly the point in which I remembered that God can still use you even when you are not actively trying. Thank you for the encouragement and upliftment.
For those who do not know…
The Sunshine Blogger Award is awarded to bloggers by other bloggers who believe in their gifts and talents. This award is given to those who excel in all that they do and go above and beyond to reach their dreams and goals. Your passion matters and we want to cultivate that passion within you!
Once nominated, the blogger is to write a post in which they:
- Thank the blogger who nominated them and provide links back to their blog.
- Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated them.
- Nominate 11 other blogs and give them 11 new questions to answer.
- Notify your nominees and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post.
My answer’s to Crystal’s questions –
How long have you been a blogger?
I have been a blogger for about seven years now. I started the blog from a basic WordPress page Spring of 2010 with my name because I had a lot of thoughts that I wanted to address them outside of the 140 characters from Twitter. In 2014, I re-branded into The Prodigal Daughter and was gifted my domain a year later and have I have been proactively blogging since.
What made you want to start a blog?
I wanted to start blogging as an outlet to share my thoughts with others on an open forum. Since I started, my vision has been more geared towards allowing an online community for women to relish in the gifts and talents that the Lord has given them. I feel like my experiences can allow room for other women to connect and grow through their experiences.
What do you hope to accomplish with your blog?
I would love to one day become a successful author, as well as a successful motivational speaker. I think my blog will manifest into something greater than I ever realized and I am believing that God will use my words to change the world one day. I hope people feel accepted, loved, and prayed for after reading each blog post.
What is your favorite coffee drink?
My favorite coffee drink is strictly dependent on my mood and the time of year. My typical go-to is a vanilla iced coffee, with no added simple syrup, though, sometimes I splurge on iced white mochas. In the cooler months, I often opt for pumpkin spice lattes or Starbucks chestnut praline latte. Though, I think my all-time favorite drink from Starbucks actually is the green tea frappes.
What is your favorite hobby?
My favorite hobby is shopping. I love shopping for clothes, cute decor, or shopping for other people! Specifically, I love putting together trendsetting outfits from unconventional stores to create a whole new look. Sometime about borrowing old to make new fascinates me.
Name a famous person you would love to meet!
A famous person that I would love to meet would be Leonardo Dicaprio. Aside from my love The Great Gatsby and Shutter Island, I would love to sit and talk with him about his humanitarian views and learn how to better love and protect our planet. I think he would be a humble person to sit and chat with over coffee.
How many siblings do you have?
I have two younger siblings. I am the oldest, then my brother, then my sister. I am 4 years apart from my brother and about 7 1/2 years apart from my sister.
If you could only take one thing from your home, what would it be?
If I could only take one thing from home, it would probably be my phone. I would want to be able to call someone in case of an emergency, but I would also be able to catch up with everyone online, as well as jot down any thoughts or ideas I have throughout the day.
Favorite way to relax at night?
My favorite way to relax at night is by taking a warm bath with essential oil infused bath bombs, candle lights, and having worship music/meditative noises in the background. Then following with a movie, cuddled in bed with my husband and husky puppy.
The person in your family that inspires you the most?
The person in my family that inspires me the most has to be both of my parents. All of the sacrifices and last minute decisions they have had to make in order to provide for my family is something that I really admire. I have always been close with my parents and value their advice and life stories. All of the hard work and dedication they have provided for us is something that I hope to cultivate when my husband and I start having children of our own.
What do you most want to be known for?
I want to be known as someone who never stopped. I want to be known as someone who never stopped chasing after their goals, someone who never stopped loving other people, and as someone who never stopped believing in Hope.
